Hey guys, my name is Parker Heron. I'm Caroline Lloyd. And I'm Ian Hoyt. And congrats! You've just discovered What's your favorite scary movie? A horror movie podcast where I, a horror fanatic, try and share my love of scary movies with my BFFs. His BFFs who are not big fans of scary movies. At all. Now, obviously, Parker has a lot more experience in this genre, so he's gonna guide us through it, but we may be a little bit more timid, unknowledgeable, and scared. Well, I'm really excited. This is a learning experience for all of us. And it's just gonna get better as we go along. So be patient. Yeah. Bundle up, get your friends together, watch a movie, and then every Monday, hit us up.
What's your favorite scary movie is a horror movie podcast where we're trying to find Ian and Caroline's favorite scary movie one at a time. Starting from scratch, because I refuse to watch scary movies up until this point. So it's really a clear track for me. I'm exactly the same way, so I don't I don't even know where to begin. I don't know what I don't know. Well, hopefully, you don't just sit there and watch them. Hopefully, eventually you start to like them a little bit. I'll try and do some educational things. Might not work out. I'll be learning as you guys learn. But I'm hoping we can all develop an appreciation for horror movies together. Now, we have a few rules for your scary movie viewing party.
Oh really? What are they? Jesus Christ, you don't know the rules? Even aneurysm, why don't you? There are certain rules that one must abide by in order to successfully survive a horror movie. For instance. Well, number one, you gotta watch it just like any other movie. If you watch it like a scary movie, you're gonna miss out because you've already written it off. That's gonna be my number one problem. Rule number two, never cover your eyes. Rule number three, lights must be out. Rule number four, volumes gotta be up high. Rule number five, you can't stop watching, no matter what. Don't go to the bathroom, do it before. Don't go get your snacks, put them in a bowl.
Before. Before. Uh you want a sweater, too bad, you're gonna be cold. Hear a scary noise down the hallway. Don't go check it out. Yeah. Uh Robert breaks in. Too bad. Keep watching, he'll join ya. If you stop watching, it ruins the magic. Ian, tell me why you were never drawn to scary movies in the first place. Did you have a childhood experience watching scary movies? Yeah, I think the reason I was never drawn to scary movies was when I was I think it was like the last what's the last grade in elementary school, like fifth grade? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, I was like almost kidnapped, and I think that scarred me from watching scary movies. Because I was like cliche almost kidnapped back in the I think that was like the the ending years where like old school kidnappers could probably get away with it.
So yeah, maybe I think that's probably why. If I had to pinpoint You're gonna be a milk carton boy? Yeah. I don't know if you're sensitive about this, but that's so cool. It's it's a pretty intense story, in my opinion. But we don't need to go. We can reveal that over the course of this podcast. Ooh. Realize when the moment comes, creepy pasta. I think there will probably be. I I would imagine there's probably some type of scary movie we're gonna watch that coincides with my almost abduction. So we'll save it. But Caroline, why why don't you watch scary movies? It's it's rare that a couple like ourselves both don't like scary movies. Well, I recently came to terms with this because I finally re-watched the movie, but I was very young and I watched Gremlins, probably probably at an age too young to be watching it.
Uh, it sounds like you were at the right age that they were targeting. Yeah, it really freaked me out, and I had like bad dreams about the pool lighting up and all those monsters coming out of it. And uh, second viewing, how did you feel? Just as scared? I thought this is stupid. For context, we watched Gremlins. It's my favorite Christmas movie. It was terrible. If that tells you anything about Parker. You're joking! That movie is so good. There's nothing you can even complain about. It's just joy. Start to fall. But then again, I fall asleep. I think I was like probably like seven years old, and I was drawn into like this cute little Furby because they're popular at the time, and I was like, oh, it's so adorable, and then they start killing people, and I just freaked out.
And shortly after that, my parents took me to Universal Studios in Orlando, and I refused to get on the E.T. ride. And I think that just spiraled everything. E.T.'s good too. I was very scared of it. Well, Gremlins is from the 80s, so your parents definitely pranked you. It's not like it was male. No, I remember my dad came home with it and was like, I used to love this movie. No. With the movie. Why do you think you're so drawn to scary movies? Well, like you guys, I was a scaredy cat when I was a kid. Um, my parents used to love used to, they watch it once a year and they have like the uh extended editions of Lord of the Rings.
And I was terrified of Lord of the Rings. There's the scene where um Gollum is climbing down the side of like a mount of like a cliff towards Frodo while he's sleeping. I had like nightmares about it. Oh my god, yes, I know exactly what scene you're talking about. Yeah, it's scary. The orcs scared me when they would like do these like weird squeal things. No, those weren't scary, but Gollum. They scared me. I'm trying to remember what the first scary movie I watched was. I know when I was younger, I watched The Ring after um The Prom with some friends when I was in middle school, and that really freaked me out. But I liked it.
I think it was the group experience of it. Like we were all just scared and screaming and like hugging up together. I think I also get very scared. Hugging up, that's a is that an adjective? Or a verb? It's not an adjective for sure. I think I also get scared by movie trailers very easily. I don't know why. I mean they're supposed to like build adrenaline and be super scary so that people go and see them, but I used to get nightmares from the trailers, so therefore I would never watch the movies. Yeah, I know another early movie I watched was the remake of uh When a Stranger Calls, which is pretty lame. I watched it alone in my bedroom and freaked out.
I watched the remake of Dawn of the Dead, where they're all in the mall with the zombies when I was young. That freaked me out. So I don't know why I kept watching them. I've just always enjoyed the thrill. Honestly, I never finished Stranger Things because I'm scared. Emotional finale season one. I bet you'd cry. Yeah. Oh no. I'm Caroline. I live in New York City with Ian Parker and a furry feline named Hot Dog. I am an adventure guide at Life Nomading and co-host that podcast as well. I enjoy traveling the world, eating mint chocolate chip ice cream, and pretending to be healthy and fit. When I'm not trying to find my favorite movie now.
Scary. I am an adventure guide as well with Caroline. We adventure through the world. It's a hobby and also a job. And it's great. And that's it. Hobbies include kicking the cat off the counter. Parker, what about you? Parker, we want to hear about you. Oh, can you give me some applause first? Thank you, thank you. Give us more! Tell us more. Well, like you guys, frequently watching scary movies these days. Um, but when I'm not, I'm a Pilates instructor here in New York. Yep. I'm a uh part-time modern dancer in a small company. Yep, yep. Lots of fun. I possess a BFA in modern dance. I like that terminology. Um, I love candy and soda, and I'm a bad fitness instructor.
I eat a lot of mac and cheese. A lot. Mm-hmm. Uh, I like popcorn when I'm watching a scary movie. Extra butter. Hell yeah. I have a formula at the movie theater. Uh, if you want to look forward to our first five episodes, they're dropping on Monday, February 11th. You can get your friends together. We're watching Halloween, then the Conjuring, Let the Right One In, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and Happy Death Day. Getting ready to go see Happy Death Day to you in theaters.
