I'm thinking about closing the lake. There's a lot. It is twenty thousand kids. Verana. Hello, City. It's your killer host. My name is Parker, your resident horror fanatic. I'm Caroline, Scaredy Scream Queen. I'm Ian, Scary Movie Skeptic. And welcome to my favorite scary movie. What's your favorite scary movie is a horror film podcast where we're on a journey to find our favorite scary movie one at a time. Whether you hate them or love them, join us and discover yours. Spoilers ahead, so plan your movie screening every weekend before the episode release. Hello, listeners, and welcome to the season two finale of What's Your Favorite Show? Pew Pew Pew Pew. Not sad because just like old Michael Myers and Jason Voorhees, we'll never truly die.
We'll be back um sometime. But enough about that. We've got business to get down to. Hey, ask me how I picked today's movie. How'd you pick it? Parker, how'd you pick this movie? What'd you pick it for? Oh, you'll never believe. I put a poll on our Patreon, patreon.com slash scary moviepod, and I asked them, what movie would you like to hear us discuss on the podcast? And they selected Deep Blue Sea. And then I said, Great, what other movie do you want to hear us chat about on the podcast? Because spoiler, Deep Blue Sea was our final episode of season two on Patreon, and second place was Piranha 3D. Ooh, immersed. I'm really learning a lot about you guys by your picks.
Well, I have to say, I was very excited about this pick because I could picture the poster in my brain from when this movie came out in the year 2010, where it has a woman, a very sexy woman, laying on a raft floating on the top of the water, and then there are big piranhas on most of the poster. So I was very excited to finally watch Piranha 3D. Yes, I had never seen this movie before. You know, pretty basic storyline, if I do say so. Yeah, uh not too many frills, but I have to say, the But plenty of kills. The joy and the glee was immense. Piranha 3D was directed by Alexander Ajah, I believe is how you say his last name.
It could also be AJ. It is AJA. I do not know. I believe he is French. Ajah. He has also directed High Tension from 2003. The Hills Have Eyes from 2006, and Crawl from 2019. Oh Makes Sense makes sense. Oh, didn't we watch that the three of us together? We did. Towards the beginning of this journey. Yes, and then we decided that that was just such a special experience for ourselves that we wouldn't share it with you listeners. Piranha 3D was co-written by Pete Goldfinger. What does that finger do? Am I right? And Josh Stolberg. They together also wrote Sorority Row from 2009, Jigsaw from 2017, and the upcoming Saw film Spiral. Alright. Stephen R. McQueen.
Awesome last name. Plays the role of Jake Forrester. He was in The Vampire Diaries and Chicago Fire. Elizabeth Shue plays Sheriff Julie Forester, who was also in Well, not Sheriff Julie Forrester, but Elizabeth Shue was in. She was nominated for an Academy Award for her leading role in leaving Las Vegas from 1995. And I have never heard that movie like ever uttered from anyone's mouth ever. Well, I was born that year, so I would not have heard of it. But can you believe she was robbed of the Academy Award for Piranha 3D? Oh you betcha! What a what a what a robbed. Alright, Jerry O'Connell plays Derek Jones. He was in Scream 2 from 1997. Who's he?
Oh, he was Sydney's boyfriend who sang at the uh cafeteria table. I think I love you. So what am I saying? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Um, who's also in Scream Queens. And the rest of the ensemble, which deserves a shout out because I felt like I was just pointing at people and like naming different things they were in the whole time. Um Adam Scott as Novak. He was in Parks and Rec. Yes, and I have to say, really phoned in this performance. Yeah. I mean, hey, I loved his character. He was just zipping around on that jet ski. There was that moment when um Sheriff Julie Forrester was like, Oh my goodness, my children are on a boat.
I have to go save them. And he was like, I will come too. And then they jumped on the boat, and he she was like, Oh my god, my children were giving an Oscar-worthy performance, and he was like, The rope has too much slack. That's just I thought it was like a comic relief, you know. That's that's how he is in the world. I love him. I just look at him and I laugh. What a comic. Alright, we also we also have Jessica Zor, who plays Kelly. Um, love her as an actress, gossip girl, galore. Um, yeah, Christopher Lloyd. Love. Uh he plays Carl Goodman. If you could see a side-by-sign of hit and hit of him and Caroline, identical.
I mean, Back to the Future. He is just what a what an actor. Actor. Uh Ving Rames as Deputy Fallon, lovely, sacrificial death, uh, Kelly Brooke as Danny, Riley Steele as Crystal, Richard Dreyfus as Matt Boyd, Eli Roth as wet t-shirt host. Congrats, Eli. Hey, Eli Big Wig, you might remember him as the director of Hostel Zoom. Oh, that makes a lot of well, not a lot of sense, but cool. The IMDB summary is quote, after a sudden underwater tremor sets free scores of prehistoric man-eating fish, an unlikely group of strangers must band together to stop themselves from becoming fish food for the area's new razor-toothed residents. The Rotten Tomatoes critic score is seventy-four per cent.
And the audience score is forty-three per cent. Critics consensus is quote playing exactly to expectations for a movie about killer fish run amuck, piranha three D dishes out gore. Gaffaf. Goof gufa. Gaffa. And Gufa and gratuitous nudity. I don't know if it's gratuitous, with equal greed. I Gore Gore Gaffer. What did you just say? Ian, w hold your words together. I've never seen that many boobies in one place in my life. Doesn't make it gratuitous. Just enough. Do you remember that beautiful moment of cinema when the wire from the wet t-shirt contest like boat snapped off and ripped that woman not only in half, but snapped her top off. It's iconic go down. I don't know if our our Wi-Fi was not great in the movie pause, but that lasted way too long.
No, your Wi-Fi was exactly on schedule because I kid you not, I rewound that four times and watched it again and again. It was so funny and terrible. It's the most it's the most innovative horror I've seen in two seasons of What's Your Favorite Scary Movie? Gorgalore. Well, and I have to inform you that Piranha 3D is a loose remake of Piranha from 1978. It is also the fourth installment of the Piranha franchise, which includes Piranha 2, The Spawning from 1981, Piranhas from 1995, and Piranha 3 Double D from 2012. Which I would like to inform you both that I watched the original Piranha a few weeks ago. It was fun, it was campy, just like this.
Loved it. It felt very Friday the 13th, but instead of a slasher, you got fish. Was there nudity in the first? Is this a series of nudity? Was there gratuitous boobies? It was not quite the same. It was more like a plucky band of uh underdog investigators trying to wrap this up, and they were actually trying to save children from a camp. But I mean, there was also like a big party beach in the original, and that one had more of like a mare figure who was like, the water's perfectly safe, and there was like a big government cover-up conspiracy. Um, topical. But then I must tell you that Piranha 3 Double D I watched today before this very recording.
I paid four buckaroos for that, and I would like to sue for those back. I was were there double D's. There was more nudity in that movie, but it was not fun and LOL nudity. It was just like, well, I guess I'm looking at naked women, and that was it. Porno piranha. Yeah, it was a very different vibe, and I did not love it. So, first reaction to piranha 3D, what would you say is really just at the front of your brain? Uh, boobs. Boobs. Oh, hell yeah. You know, I actually was texting Julianne last night and I said, listen, Piranha 3D loved it. And I was, I don't remember who I was saying this to, if it was y'all or someone else, but I was like, where are the boobs in modern studio horror movies?
I want nudity. And, you know, I'm very equal opportunity. It can be male nudity, female nudity. I want it all. But if boobs are the first step, I want 'em. And I see no boobs in horror movies these days. But then Prana Double D um made me rethink that. There was a time and place for the boobs, and it fit perfectly into late 90s, early 2000s, but I feel like we as a culture have evolved. What I don't think it would fly these days. I feel like that's a very American standpoint. I want to just see naked people. They don't have to be on the binary. I just want to see nudity. It can be male, female.
I just want to look at some bodies. Yeah, I think that is a very American statement you just made. I mean, why can't we go to the RV parts? No, no, no, no, no, no, no. I'm just saying that culture we're in here. The boobs and the nudity that we're used to seeing normally come with like very stupid girls, where it's like the only good thing about these girls is the boobs that they have. They could have been smart. I know, I know, but I'm just saying we would have to alter it a little bit in order for that to fly. Maybe they should do a horror movie set on Fire Island. Oh, with weenies. Yeah.
I would love that. Um, well, speaking of boobs, there was one pair in particular attached to a woman that I loved. I thought that um Kelly Brooke as Danny was the most beautiful woman I had ever seen in my entire life. Who was that? The the like main one. Yeah, the one whose hair was caught and she was pulled in from her long, luscious locks. I thought you meant the girl who got her scalp ripped off in that boat motor. That was a little gruesome. And mean ex-boyfriend just like chopping right over people. That is so I'm not saying the writing in this movie is good. I have a few examples of dialogue that I was just like, mmm, that's not how people speak.
That is the only part in the whole movie where I was just like, why is this boy just deciding to kill people in this lake? Because he's a bad person. And they kind of like tried to get into that storyline between Kelly and him, and like, meh, but it was just completely lost in the first ten minutes. Yeah, I feel like I had no bearing on what was going on there. Now, the movie begins at a Mesolithic era dig site where some man is just rowing a boat and there is an earthquake that releases from the depths of the lake a bajillion floppity gillian piranhas. And I have to say, watching this scene, I thought, wow, are we about to be in for the worst CGI I've ever seen in my life?
And then this whole movie We were. We were this whole movie is very like I'm having quite a crisis inside of me because yes, the piranhas, they don't look that great all the time. That water when that guy was being pulled into that vortex didn't look great. But, however, all of the gore looked incredible. Like there was a girl specifically I'm remembering on the beach, there's a guy holding her legs, there's a guy holding her upper body, and she gets ripped in half. It's this that stuff looked really, really good. Yeah, it was kind of hokey within the first like 10 minutes when the old man gets sucked to the depths, and I think it's like a little you could tell this was supposed to be 3D.
The little like eyeball comes up, and then the fish is like, hoop. And I was just thinking, like, one, if I were experiencing this in 3D, I would be disappointed, but hilarious otherwise. I actually like I really want to see this in 3D. I think that like all of the camp going on is really good, but the only thing is just since I'm not watching in 3D, those parts that are supposed to be like, ooh, 3D, I was like, oh, that's not very funny. But like, would I love to see uh a severed penis floating straight at my face? Yes. Dave Parker the severed penis. It's so funny. It's like you could tell the parts that were supposed to be like, ooh, like popping out at you.
Yeah. Yeah, I want to reach out and feel like I could grab that weenie right out of the water. Or those silicones. Yeah, I wonder. I remember the first time I saw a really impressive 3D experience was my sister and I saw Coraline. And there's not very many moments in Coraline where they're a thing just like out at my face, but it was all just like, wow, Coraline looks really close to me and the background looks really far away. I wonder if they could really give us some definition on the boobs. Yeah. I don't know. We're getting a little caught up on the boobs. But speaking of boobs, there is this incredible scene of really speaking to the artistry of the movie where there is classical music playing, and there are just two booby ladies.
How long was that scene just swimming through the water? The whole flower waltz. It was we we went through the whole song. I loved that art. It was I mean, honestly. Minus the implants. It was pretty beautiful. It was nice. See, you're changing your tune, Lloyd. I appreciate good nude art. But our neighbors don't. Oh my god, yeah. I and during that scene, I was like, close the blinds! Everyone's gonna think we're watching something else. No, I meant when you go outside every morning and I paint you naked. Shut up. Alright. Um, but I have a couple of questions, a little like breaks in logic for me, and I wonder if maybe you two people who know a little bit more about science might clue me in on this.
I practically failed silence. Silence. He can't even say science. Um, if you shoot a gun into Noah. If you shoot a gun in the air. Okay, my first question. If you shoot a gun straight into the air, what happens? It comes back down. It actually at the same velocity. Yeah, it can kill people on the way back down. That's was my first thought when he shot those gun bullets straight into the air to get everyone's attention. My second thought, would you be able to kill those fish with a shotgun? No. No. My busters prove that shooting in a water it stops the bullet. Well, my third question would you shoot fish in a lake where a bajillion people are scrambling to get out of here?
No. No, stupid. And what really tickled me was her pulling out her taser. I was just like, girlfriend, what are you doing? That was my next question because I was really like, wow, the uh glorification of the police force in this movie has not aged well. Um, but would that like would that be effective at all? Would it be so effective that it would electrocute everyone? Like, what would happen? No, I I don't think it would do anything. I don't think it would do anything. Well, that really um yeah, that really hurt my brain. I was like, I don't understand. So, discussing Adam Scott's horrendous character that you seem to be okay with, the moment that seems to unleash the piranhas into the spring break area is when his diving team jumps down and swims into the crevices of the underground lake.
And I thought what was great about this scene was there was like that funny little like sexual banter that the three divers were having, and then it was all kind of pulled together by that great moment where the male diver strikes his flare and you see the whole school of piranhas around him. Do y'all have any thoughts on this scene? I thought that it was kind of an exciting build to what we had been waiting for. That was cool. I mean, you see all the eggs down there pre-hatching. Mm-hmm. You see Adam Scott's nude back. I would have liked to have seen his chest. We saw his chest, he r he ripped off his shirt. But you didn't get a good look because I saw his back.
I he started taking his shirt off and I was like, the one person I don't want to see naked in this movie. And then you saw his back and I was like, oh, that's a little muscular. I yeah. Maybe it was his style. What'd you say? Maybe it was his stunt double. Oh. Yeah, sorry, I didn't understand your um accent there, you know. No, that that was a cool little scene. That is a part where, see, the second movie, 3 Double D was riddled with this, but it was just this moment where it was like he swims down and grabs the girl who's been ripped apart, and the piranhas just don't seem to be interested in him for some reason.
And the second movie, it was just like, how are all of the main characters managing to outswim the piranhas? I was very furious about that. Well, I think I mean they they nibbled at him. He was bleeding when he got back in. They took little nibbles. But they couldn't like really get a hold of him. I don't know. With that little shrimp body, I don't think he had he had the speed. All those teenagers, teenagers, young adults in the water, some of them just got nibbled on. Yeah. And not from the piranhas. Bad. Boo. Boobs. I really want to talk about. I feel like I'm just flying a word a second right now because I'm so excited.
Because I don't care about anything in this movie until we get to this massacre. I want to know what y'all think about this massacre. Really, it kicks off with that girl in the big parasil getting her legs eaten off and her boobs like in the water. Fabulous. But what would you say is like a highlight of this massacre? Any thoughts? Oh. How do I choose one? I think the people climbing up on the tower like they're actually like that makes any sense. Yeah, I feel like logical human beings would have just like gotten up on the platform and stood there until someone came and rescued them. But I mean, one, I thought it was pretty funny the way it started with this because I always feel weird about sitting in inner tubes because it's literally just your little tushy through that hole.
Yeah, we got some POV for that. Yeah. Well, I'm like a few summers ago in Bulgaria, our friend Mitko had the GoPro underwater, and I was sitting in a pineapple floaty, and he videoed that, and I was like, never again will I ever sit in an inner tube because my butt is just you don't want that POV anyway. Um but yeah, started off in that way. Once his face gets on his jet ski and like saves two people, and we're supposed to think he's a hero. No, he sucked. Yeah. And then the boyfriend on his massacre. Sucked. Also good. Honestly, the deputy sheriff getting his little motorboat thing in there and dying a sacrificial death. Kind of loved that.
That was awesome. Yeah, I liked that too. I was going to say that I think kind of like the the thing holding this movie together, besides just how hilarious I found it all, I think that the sheriff, the mother, actually was like really crushing in this movie. I had a moment where everybody's like scrambling and she's like looking around, she's like, Oh, I'm so sad. Look at my emotions being telegraphed through my face. And I thought, I am a little upset. Like, I got a little choked up for a second. I thought there was a little bit of some like emotional resonance in this scene where I was like, wow, all of these youths are dying.
Yep. No, I didn't care. Have you ever had a spring break like that? No, but I was saying, man, I want to have a little I mean I I don't want it, but I w I want to do it so I can say I've done it. Yeah, it looked fun. I'm sure all of them have coronavirus now, but I would love I would love to um have some sort of situation like that. So the finale of the movie takes place on this yacht, which has been crashed by the idiotic Derek. I was very mad at him the whole movie. I wanted him to leave, um, and was pleased when he did because penis. Um but I don't know, I just feel like the massacre was really exciting.
The yacht thing was not as exciting to me because I don't think these characters were great. Um and then it was frustrating because they kind of chopped it all up. You're at the beach and it was exciting. Then you're at the yacht, and it was like, okay, whatever. I hope that the beautiful woman lives, but you know, she didn't. And then it was back to the beach, and then it was back to the yacht, and I was like, no, no, no, no, no. I think this pacing is very bad, and it's not keeping my heart excited about these things. I wish they could have been separated a little bit. Because yeah, I'd Kelly, let it let the fish eat her.
I didn't care. I think this movie would have been a lot more interesting if our main characters would have been on the beach. Yes, and they had to like fight through the crowds of people. Yeah. I could see a lot of like like a loving couple getting separated in the madness and then having to like find the other and yeah, then they could have actually done something interesting with that ex-boyfriend driving his boat through all the people. Maybe he could have been trying to like separate them or run over um Tyler or something. Like a little Titanic action, you know? With the rich guy. Why is he doing that? Like it made no sense. I mean, looking back on it, maybe he was like, I've got to go save Kelly.
But like he could have said that. But bullshit. No, he was saving himself. Yeah, I think so too. It and it did not go well. My other complaint about this finale, you have a rope connected from boat to boat. Who would think, let's put four people on it at once? Right. Also, I would fall off in like two seconds. Yeah, you would. There's no way. That wasn't even like industrial rope, it was like fishing line. It wasn't. Seriously, that I said the same thing. I'm like, uh two boats, especially of those caliber, cannot hold tension, let alone probably the rope itself. I for four people. Yeah, I think I could have crawled across it, so I would have let the fish get Caroline and I would have kept going.
But also, like, they could have hopped on the rocks that were right in front of them. They had time. That boat was not sinking that fast. Well, yeah, that was my thought, was just like let them go one at a time. Yeah, maybe you're scared for your little babies, but like truly they're gonna be better off. Then they had to watch a hot woman be massacred in front of them. The m the mother is the liability. She insisted on going back and forth on that rope, like it was her daily commute. You want to know what I think would have helped the situation if police officers had to go through a sensible amount of training. Okay, I have to say though, I haven't seen a police officer as in shape as this woman in my life.
Ever. That woman was ripped. And the fact that she could go across those roads, like, I wish every police officer could crawl across those roads. They should all go through a ridiculous amount of training. Well, it's actually crazy because I've seen some really in-shape police officers on um, like videos on Pornhub. Hey, those actors and actresses probably went through a lot of training. More than bullies. Now, what did you think of the final moments where they discover that the fish are just babies? L O L. I knew that jump scare at the end was coming. I have to say And delivered the line perfectly. I have to say that that was hilarious to me. I wrote LOL No in my notes because I just thought it was funny.
Um, but I will say it was ruined by Fubo TV, who decided to run the little half-screen credits at the bottom. If that hadn't been there, then I would have been like, oh my god, this movie's gonna have a whole nother act to it. But no. Then I was like, oh, there's gonna be a little jump and then done. So this is not sponsored by FUBO TV. It is not. And I actually meant to say this at the beginning, but when this won our poll, I was like, ooh, how exciting. And I went to go look to see if I could rent it, could be found nowhere. I couldn't find it, I wasn't gonna order the DVD because I don't have a DVD player right now.
And so I scoured the internet, and the only way I could find to find it was to make a free trial on FUBO, which is like a cable TV streaming service, and then I have to cancel it in less than seven days because it's like 60 bucks. Yeah,$55. So I'm canceling it immediately so I don't forget. Brought to you by FUBO. FUBO. Here's a little fun fact for you about the production of this movie, which seems to be pretty straightforward. I don't have a lot of exciting things to share about it, but the film's shooting and release were delayed because of water temperatures while shooting and difficulty with the 3D effects. A Comic-Con panel was cancelled because the footage from the film was deemed inappropriate, and the film's first trailer premiered with Avatar and featured Kelly face to face with a school of piranhas, which was then not included in the film.
Oh man. And my other thought about this, back to the boobs, because this just I again, this is the most boobs I've ever seen in one movie. I, like I said earlier, told Julianne, I was like, I want more boobs. And what I think I loved about the boobs in this movie was that the whole movie seemed to be. And I don't really know much about Alexander Aja. I've seen his other films. High Tension is kind of this like queer obsession movie, so I feel like he's like somewhat of a woke dude. But watching this movie, I didn't feel like it was like gross or like very like it didn't feel super broy. Like, yes it was, but at the same time, I feel like it was mocking the 80s, but then also kind of violating it by having like the boob slashed in half, or you know, things like that, or having them be ridiculous with the classical music.
When I watched the second movie, like I said, you were just looking at a bunch of naked people, and it felt more like like a lot of like up and down shots of women's bodies and being it it felt a little more gross and like it was like, look at these hot slices. And so I feel like this movie to me did a good job of like really having fun and being silly with some of the more like dicey material it was displaying. I would agree. Well, what would you say from Piranha 3D is your most memorable murder? I mean, honestly, I have to say that woman cut sideways through a torso. I mean, there's no doubt about it.
It was like a solid seven seconds that it just stayed on her until her head slid off her body. And you may not have noticed unless you watched it four times in a row. But she has a friend, first of all, another girl dies from the same slash right next to her, um, just less dramatically. And then she has a friend behind her that is screaming about it, but looking in a completely different direction. Like it's not even close. Well, I was confused. I was like, did it go all the way through her body? Because you just see this little line of blood, and you're like, why what's happening here draws you in, and then white into the water.
Yeah, at first I thought it was some sort of like belt like adventure or belts of bullets or something that she was wearing as an accessory. And then I was like, oh. Uh yeah, so just to drive home, the CGI in this movie, bad. The practical effects, chef's kiss. Ian? I would have to. It's memorable for a different reason, but I'd have to give it to the the cop guy that bladed those piranhas. Mmm. You are talking about Deputy Fallon. Deputy Fallak. Yes, him in that boat motor, and a little spoiler, I'm gonna let you keep it. Hey, hey, motorboat, boat, motor. He motorboated those piranhas. He died. Motorboating. Do you remember at the beginning when those girls were dancing on the yacht and they were all chanting motorboat?
Yeah. Imagine being those girls. How fun would that be? Everyone chanting motorboat, motorboat, motorboat. Is that Parker's dream? To be a wild girl. Yeah. What's the male equivalent of a motorboat? Ian, you're not ready for the truth. Um, Parker, what is yours? Wow, what a question. Um, my most memorable murder, it's gotta be Derek. I mean, ripped up by those fish, weener ripped off, and then the the penis spit out, floats across the screen, and another one across. So not even Derek, just his penis. Derek's penis is my answer. You say you always want more ween in the in the scary movie. More ween. You got it. I don't need it attached to a man. I just want to see it.
That was a proper brat. It was lengthy. On a scary scale, one to five. How would you rate piranha 3D? I'm gonna give it a one. Ah, Ian. Give it a four. What? Wait, on a one to five? Yeah. Yeah. Oh, I'd give it a three. Jesus Christ, Ian. We've been doing this for what? Like 70 episodes? No way. I do have to say. We haven't done 70. Including our Patreon episodes, we have done more than 80. Wow. No way. Yeah. Congrats to us. Um I have to say, Ian sometimes hesitates before he gets in large bodies of water. So I am assuming I got an anti-body water thing. I yeah, I I am assuming that that is why the three, right?
Yeah. I got bit once by a fish or like something, and I haven't been the same since. I have to say, I too was recently sitting in a tube in a lake, and I swear. See a little booty hanging out? Yeah, indeed. And it was before I saw this movie, and I swear I felt something touch my hand at one point. And I told someone, I one of my friends, I said, Hey, something touched my hand, and he said, Something touched mine too. And really, we were just holding hands. No, I'm just kidding. Um, so yeah, I think the same thing. I'm gonna give this so vividly, and you just make eye contact and you're both holding hands.
I'm gonna give this movie a two and a half because I do not find it particularly scary, but people with a weak stomach, beware because there is some pretty grotesque imagery in this movie. Mm-hmm. Now, what would you say is your favorite scary movie? Um, my favorite scary movie is Deep Blue Sea. What? When did you watch that? Uh, we watched it on our Patreon episode. Are you kidding me? Wow. If you want to hear about why, you have to go listen to that. So. And what a um shit. A wet taste for horror you have. What. Ian, yours. Well, we round out season two of What's Your Favorite Scary Movie? Piranha, Prana. With a favorite scary movie from Ian Hoyt, The Lodge.
Oh my god. That was a nail bitter. I had no idea what you were gonna say. It was so close. How close were you to saying piranha? Like, total upset. Total toothless piranha. I know. I saw you like, uh, oh, what am I gonna put? But okay, the lodge. Grappling. And you know, I am going to stick with my choice actually from last week. The two of you might be surprised to hear that my favorite scary movie is actually a new Netflix TV show, Jewan Origins. Oh. Yeah, so go listen to my episode last week, you bitches. Exactly. We mentioned earlier that alas, this is the finale of season two. So, to celebrate, I have a few extra questions for you two hags.
From season two of what's your favorite scary movie? What would you say is your least favorite scary movie? Oh, there's so many bad ones to choose from. What you are absolutely insane. I think I have to go with Hellraiser. What? I really just that was just not my cup of tea at all. That movie was incredible. Oh. It's hard to choose. I would say between the Blair Witch Project. What? You know what? I'm gonna go with Hellraiser too. No. Y'all are wrong. It was pretty not my favorite. I'm trying to remember ones that I fell asleep to, and I think that was one of them. Well, clearly he doesn't remember it, so. I am appalled at that choice.
I do not support. I season two cancelled. The show's over. Um oh shit. Well, I actually was going to say something different, and then my eyes just looked straight at the Grudge 2020, and I suddenly had a very visceral reaction to how much I hated that movie. Uh that is the most boring waste of a movie I've ever seen in my life, and you can write that down. That was pretty bad. Written. Um, and a quick honorable mention for least favorite would be Black Christmas 2019. We've seen some bad ones, folks. Yeah, and I mean we watch them, so you don't have to. I guess I'm a little biased because all of the movies that I just picked were new releases that I hadn't seen before, and all the other movies that we watched that were not new releases, I picked.
So there you have it. Tell me, if you will, do you have a most memorable murder of the entire second season? I think um, off the top of my head, going back to my favorite movie, which is The Lodge. Quick spoiler alert for the launch. The mom. Yeah, committing suicide. That was completely shocking. It's not a murder, but No, it counts. Most memorable death. Definitely that. That was that was pure gold. I totally forgot, but I didn't mean to forget. That was very jarring. Pure cold. Gold. Gold studded gold. While you're thinking, I will share mine. I will say, slight spoilers for Candyman if you haven't seen it. It's on Netflix. Um Helen Lyle burning up inside the bonfire with Candyman to that beautiful music and then crawling that child out to its mother.
I love that scene. I think it's gorgeous. I was actually thinking about choosing that one, but I think I have to go with the centipede in the human centipede. Oh my god. And yeah, that's a good choice because three deaths in one, what a bargain. Yeah. And just the pain of thinking through it all. I almost just said something stupid. I almost said, if I could live any of these horror movies, it'd be the human centipede. That's not even slightly true, unless I was Dr. Heiter. And then I would say, feed her. Now, you may both recall that your most, nope, not most, your favorite scary movie of season one was Mid Summer, both of you, and mine was Scream.
All of our favorite scary movies of season two are Myself, Jewan Origins, Caroline, uh, Deep Blue Sea, and Ian The Lodge. And a face-off of the scary movies, What Rains Victorious as your favorite scary movie. Are you kidding me? I mean, season two, you were a blast, but midsummer for the win. I mean, I'm still thinking about it like every single day since I saw it. I literally just thought about it today. I just thought about how how I wished there were more movies to take me there. And okay, so we got super hype over the summer and forced our friends. About midsummer we did. Yeah, we did. While we were in Europe, we forced our friends to watch it and we were like, you guys, you just don't understand.
You're gonna love this movie so much. And they didn't freaking appreciate it because Which I get. I get when you hype something, people are more likely to be I don't know, I don't know. I was just I realized in that moment the knowledge and appreciation that we have for scary movies at this point, and they were not on that level. And I I can never forgive them for that. So Ian, who wins the lodge or midsummer? They're both in i amazing movies. But like I said, that's subjective. You know, you know, those true scary movie fans know that I'm a sucker for a cult. And uh Midsummer is just something I will always love. I would give anything to have five more Midsummer movies, even if they sucked.
And hopefully some someone out there will get at me with the cult moves. Well, I must tell you that if you have not watched the Director's Cut, there's like a beefy 20 extra minutes on it, like additional scenes, and it's pretty good. More? Yeah. More minutes. Yeah, you should watch. I actually really appreciated what the extra scenes brought to the characters and the storyline of Midsummer. So, everyone out there, if you want to watch it, go check it out because I think that it's actually a director's cut worth watching. Now, I have to say, between Juan Origins and Scream, it's really no question. Scream reigns. It is so good. I love you, Scream. You guys, we uh will not be back next week.
We will not be back next month. We will be back in a few months to uh check in on more scary movie goodness. Unfortunately, I do not think many scary movies will be coming back in the interim. But if there are ones, maybe we'll have a bonus episode, maybe we'll post some reviews on our website. Only time will tell because the Conjuring 3 moved to 2021, Candyman scooched back to October, and I'm not even hopeful about that. Halloween Kills moved to 2021 as well. So I don't know. We probably will not be coming back for any uh special episodes um in the coming months, but we will keep you updated on season three and when that will be arriving to your ear holes if you follow us on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter at ScarymoviePod.
And while you're waiting for that announcement, you can head to Apple Podcasts and you can still leave us a rating and a review because there's never a bad time to do that. My name, it's Parker Heron, and I will be weeping over the next two months, missing you listeners. But if you want to read some of that those tears and words, you can follow me on Instagram and Twitter at Parker Del Rey. That was such a lovely goodbye. Thank you. My name is Caroline. Always end forever. This is not a goodbye. This is a see you later, right? Yeah, exactly. And y'all are, of course, one of those like horrendous couples who have like a joint Facebook account, I'm sure. So yeah. Send Caroline a message. I know. Parker just said, like, I think Ian and Caroline have a joint Facebook account and then hung up on us. We don't have a joint Facebook account. When we do. Yeah, I'd love to see some receipts on that, you dweebs. Um all right. Um, you can also find all three of us on our joint Facebook accounts and Twitter and Instagram at ScarymoviePod. You can of course find us on Patreon, as I said, at patreon.com slash scary moviepod, where we will also be taking a quick hiatus, but there are just an abundance of new episodes for you to listen to um over there.
So go check that out, you won't regret. And it's like there's a crack in the lake, and you just discovered all of those episodes down there. The behind the scenes Hungry for your ears. The episodes of Caroline, Parker, Ian Unfiltered. And I have to say, just like those Piranhas, they are killer, those episodes. So you'll want to check them out. Um, and finally, you can send us an email with any feedback or requests. We're planning season three, so if you want to get your thoughts in there, now's the time. At ScarymoviePod at gmail.com. And finally, our website is on the internet. Of course it is. It's a website at scarymoviepod.com. And if you're a producer that wants to pay us, send us a message.
All right. And in the spirit of Piranha 3D, Caroline's flashing the camera. Too bad you can't see it. Woo! Caroline's gone wild. Bye. Yeah.
